Andreas "Andy" Janssen is a Composer & Arranger, Bandleader and Multi-instrumentalist based out of Aachen.

Recent projects include Two Moods, a duo piece for flute and piano, which was premiered at the Altalena Music Festival in Telki (HU) in August 2023, as well as his Missa Brevis in E for six-part mixed choir, which was awarded a 3rd prize at the Caneres International Music Competition in February 2023.

Andy wrote Big Band arrangements e.g. for Sabine Kühlich and Carlo Nardozza.

A personal highlight was his arrangement of Herbie Hancock's Dolphin Dance for the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.

The combination of different musical styles is one of the core elements of Andy's music. A recent example for a Jazz/Classical crossover project would be his arrangement of Carlo Nardozza's piece When the music stopped, that was premiered in February 2021, together with the Belgian string ensemble Boho Strings.

Andy also composes and arranges music for theatre plays.

From 2012 - 2014 Andy studied Jazz Drums at Conservatorium Maastricht (NL) with Ron van Stratum and Arnoud Gerritse, then changed his major to Jazz Composing & Arranging with Wolfgang Braun.

During his studies he took part in numerous workshops and masterclasses, e.g. with John Clayton, Dennis Mackrel and Ed Partyka.

In May 2019 he graduated with honours as a Master of Music.

Also in the music theory/analysis field Andy uses a multi-genre approach -

on his YouTube channel Andynalysis he analyses classical compositions from a Jazz point of view. No matter which genre, the main focus always lies on the most important thing - the music!
