Andy Janssen (*1993) is a composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist.

He currently lives in Aachen.

In his creative work there is a special focus on vocal music and Lied - one of his most recent works, Stabat Mater in Mundo, follows the concept of a baroque cantata and will be premiered in Leuven (BE) in April 2025.

Andy is a founding member and initiator of the vocal ensemble AaVokaSo [Aachen vocal soloists], in which he is active as a singer (baritone) and composer.

He also regularly performs as a Lied pianist.

 

Andy also composes and arranges for theater and musical productions.

  

From 2012 to 2014 he studied jazz drums at the Conservatorium Maastricht (NL) with Ron van Stratum and Arnoud Gerritse, and composition/arrangment with Wolfgang Braun from 2014, obtaining a master's degree in May 2019.

In addition, he took part in master classes with various internationally renowned lecturers.

During his studies he had the opportunity to work with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw twice.

A recent jazz/classical crossover arrangement was comissioned by Belgian trumpeter Carlo Nardozza and the string ensemble Boho Strings.

 

Andy teaches piano and theory/composition privately and works as a drum teacher at the Musikschule Brand, Aachen.
